Recipe of the Week

Tasty Apple Crisp

Preheat oven to 375

• 4 medium apples
• ½ lemon
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 2 tbsp flour
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• 1 tbsp apricot preserves
• ½ cup flour
• ½ cup brown sugar
• ½ cup old fashion oats
• ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• 8 tbsp butter or margarine softened

1. Peel and core apples, slice in ¼ inch thin slices.

2. Place in mixing bowl, squeeze lemon over apples and toss it all with the 1/3 cup sugar, 2 tbsp flour and ½ tsp cinnamon. Add the apricot preserves. Pour into pan.

3. For topping: in a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, oats, nuts and cinnamon.

4. Cut margarine in small pieces and add to bowl using fingers. Rub to make big crumbs.

5. Sprinkle crumbs over the apples and spread evenly.

6. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. The top will be brown, the apples soft.

Camp Mazal Weekly Newsletter - Week 1

Our first week at Camp Mazal was AMAZING!!!!! It really set the bar for the rest of the summer. On Monday we went bowling and everyone had so much fun knocking down those pins. We also baked some delicious chocolate muffins with sprinkles and chocolate chips and got all wet on the huge water slide in the backyard. On Tuesday we decorated our camp T-shirts with puff paint. Everyone's looked so great!! We also went to the park and had lots of fun on the swings and slides!! On Wednesday we went to Centre de la Nature in Laval. We got to go canoeing all together, pet the animals and see all the cool plants and trees. Even though it was kinda cold, it was still an awesome trip!! On Thursday we made gorgeous candlesticks and challah boards for Shabbat. We also had tons of fun on the spider web in the park and learnt a whole bunch of new games and races. Friday was a double whammy. It was bring a friend day and crazy hat day!! We learnt all about the parsha of the week, parshat Chukat, and made wonderful challahs. We also had a blast playing on our water slide and the counselors got all wet!! Our Camper of the week was Olivia and she also got to be the Ima at our Shabbat party with Dovid as our Aba!!
